Nintendo is famous for being willing to engage their legal teams to defend their copyright. They recently won a lawsuit against streamer Jesse Keighin, who was broadcasting pirated Switch gameplay before it was officially released.
The content creator, known as Every Game Guru, gained notice for openly questioning the company’s legal framework. In a letter to the company, he claimed to have numerous alternative channels and the ability to keep streaming games continuously, even if faced with obstacles.

The content creator mentioned on Facebook that Nintendo should have conducted more research. Keighin also stated that he controls the streets despite being asked to stop promoting pirate content.
Streamer must pay a penalty to Nintendo.
The process initiated by Nintendo in 2024 faced delays in court because Keighin did not cooperate. Nintendo asked for the trial to be terminated in April of this year after Keighin did not attend hearings or communicate through lawyers.
The Every Game Guru was ordered to pay $17.5 thousand in compensation to the developer, a small amount compared to previous court successes. The judge rejected the company’s requests, including one to destroy all broadcasting equipment.

The magistrate stated that the request to destroy the equipment used for streaming Switch games cannot be approved due to the streamer’s use of illegal digital games and console emulators.
The courts rejected the plea to impose the same penalty on potential Keighin workers who were not officially chosen. The company demanded $100,000 for each of the 10 instances of rights violations it found, but settled for $10,000 for the illicit sharing of Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood, and an additional $500 for each of the 15 broadcasts mentioned.
