The Saints Row series, which was shut down in 2022 following a failed reboot, may make a comeback sooner than expected, according to Chris Stockman, the director of the franchise’s original game, who is reportedly developing a concept for its revival.
Stockman personally made the announcement on Reddit, revealing that a company was seeking ideas for a new game. He expressed his hope that the game would exceed mere imagination and emphasized that it would not be a virtual reality project.
Stockman departed from Volition after the initial game’s release, despite being associated with the series. The ownership of Saints Row now rests with Embracer Group, even though the original developer is no longer in existence.
The upcoming Saints Row game may differ significantly from the latest installments.
Stockman has not revealed many specifics about his plans for the series’ future but states his intention to steer it in a new direction. Therefore, the 2022 reboot should be disregarded, and fans should not expect to see common elements from the third game.

When the series debuted in 2006, it was designed to be a strong competitor to GTA by Rockstar Games. Despite incorporating humor, the game maintained a serious tone, prompting players to show minimal regard for gangs. Notably, the PC version of the game was developed by CD Projekt RED.
After departing Volition, Stockman has worked at various companies such as Blazing Lizard, Seamless Entertainment, Zynga, and Samsung before establishing Bit Planet Games in 2014.

The developer is known for creating virtual reality games and is currently working on The Battle of Sol. While the developer has not disclosed who approached them to revive Saints Row, all signs point to PLAION, a publishing label under Embracer, being involved in the project.
